The government has renewed calls for stronger coordination among regulatory authorities to enhance public service delivery and accelerate national development.

Speaking during the 3rd Annual Regulatory Authorities Conference at South Eastern Kenya University in Kwa Vonza, Kitui County, Principal Secretary for the Blue Economy Betsy Njagi said effective and citizen-focused regulation is critical in ensuring accountability, transparency and improved socio-economic outcomes for Kenyans.

The conference was led by Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei and attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki alongside regulators from various government institutions.

“We noted the progress made over the past three years in strengthening governance, clarifying mandates, and enhancing performance, while calling for greater decisiveness in execution and a sharper focus on delivering tangible socio-economic impact for wananchi,’ she said in a statement.

According to PS Njagi, the meeting provided a platform for regulators to strengthen coordination and align their actions with the needs and expectations of citizens.

She noted that discussions during the conference emphasized the need for government agencies to move away from rigid process-driven systems and instead focus on measurable and people-centred results that wananchi can directly experience.

The conference also reviewed progress made over the past three years in improving governance structures, clarifying institutional mandates and enhancing performance across regulatory agencies.
