The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has partnered with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to strengthen women’s participation in politics and governance ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The partnership was discussed during a meeting chaired by UDA Director of Women Affairs, Civic Education and Training Margaret Ndanyi, with a focus on addressing barriers that continue to limit women’s participation in political leadership.
The two institutions will work together to strengthen recruitment strategies for women candidates and build the capacity of women leaders, particularly at the grassroots level, in areas such as negotiations and dispute resolution.
UDA said its Aspirants Forum (UAF) has attracted a significant number of women seeking the party’s ticket to contest in the 2027 elections.
The party said it is committed to providing a neutral platform where all aspirants can compete fairly during party nominations scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
NDI Consulting Programme Manager Alice Njau commended UDA for its inclusive gender policy and efforts to mobilise more women to participate in its programmes.
The meeting was also attended by UDA Director of Programmes and Partnerships Daniel Kiptoo, Director of Membership Grace Gicovi and other party officials.
UDA said increased participation of women in politics and governance is essential to strengthening Kenya’s democratic institutions and ensuring more inclusive leadership.
