Police in Roysambu have lobbed teargas to disperse protesters who were planning to storm the Jesus Winner Ministry located along the TRM Drive.
The youths were planning to ‘occupy’ the church in protest of the move by President William Ruto, who donated KSh 20 million towards the church’s construction and pledged to mobilise KSh 100 million more.
The protesters had blocked a section of Thika Road at the Roysambu roundabout before they were dispersed by the anti-riot police officers.
Around 38 protesters have been arrested and taken to Kasarani Police Station for grilling.
Addressing the congregation during the Sunday, March 9, service, Jesus Winner Ministry’s Bishop Edward Mwai condemned the protests, claiming they had been organised by people he knows.
