In a bold move set to revolutionize women’s football in Kenya, betPawa, Africa’s premier sports betting platform, has partnered with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to launch the “Locker Room Bonus” initiative for the FKF Women’s Cup.
The initiative introduces a performance-based financial incentive that directly rewards players and technical staff for match-day victories.
The partnership, announced in Nairobi, will see a total of KES 4.3 million disbursed throughout the FKF Women’s Cup season. For every win, 23 players and 3 technical staff members from the victorious team will receive direct mobile payments, reinforcing the value of performance and dedication on the pitch.“This collaboration with betPawa is a game-changer for the FKF Women’s Cup,” said FKF President Hussein Mohammed. “The Locker Room Bonus initiative provides financial relief to female players while raising the tournament’s profile by rewarding exceptional performances.”
By tying financial incentives to each match-day result, the initiative aims to inject motivation, elevate professionalism, and catalyze long-term investment in the women’s game.“At betPawa, we believe in investing in talent and development across Africa,” said Raquel Puig, Head of CSR & Sports Development at betPawa. “The Locker Room Bonus is more than sponsorship—it’s a commitment to rewarding women in sport and giving football the visibility it deserves. We’re proud to drive this transformative change alongside FKF.”
The initiative marks a significant step toward gender equity in sports and highlights the growing importance of corporate partnerships in shaping the future of Kenyan football.
