Gaming firm Bangbet has partnered with the Attorney General (AG) Dorcas Oduor to facilitate access to justice through state-run Mobile Legal Aid Centres.
The initiative, named “Justice at Your Doorstep,” aims to make legal help freely available to all citizens focusing on those who have been facing barriers to the justice system including free legal assistance for common issues, including family conflicts, land disputes, child protection, and succession matters.
They will also encourage communities to resolve disputes through alternative methods, promoting faster and friendlier solutions.
A pilot program is being implemented in Machakos County before being rolled out to all the other counties nationwide.
Bangbet will offer facilities legal centre with an office from a container which will house staff assigned by the Attorney General and facilitate its electrical works and solar energy installation to enable the facility have power for the services.
Two soundproof consultation booths, a legal aid and documentation area, virtual court hearing facilities, solar-powered energy systems and a wheelchair-accessible infrastructure for the disabled will be fitted in each mobile unit.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor noted that the initiative draws its authority from the Constitution and the Office of the Attorney General Act of 2012, which requires the state to ensure fair access to justice.
“This is not just another government office; it is a beacon of hope,” she said. “It symbolises our promise that justice in Kenya will not be a privilege for the few, but a right for all.”
Oduor thanked Bangbet for the partnership which will enable Kenyans access the elusive justice conveniently, efficiently and in real time with limited costs.
