DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako has rejected the outcome of the Malava parliamentary by-election, alleging widespread manipulation of results despite what he says was strong support from voters.

In a statement issued after UDA’s David Ndakwa was declared the winner, Panyako said he won in 134 out of 198 polling stations, but claimed the results were altered in the remaining stations.

“We won in 134 out of 198 polling stations but still they managed to manipulate and subvert the will of the people. They used 54 polling stations to steal the elections,” Panyako said.

He thanked Malava residents for what he described as unwavering trust and support, noting that the alleged electoral fraud would not go unpunished.

“Thank you my Malava people; your love and trust in me has been steadfast. But to those who subverted your will, judgement awaits them,” he said.

Panyako further claimed that his team faced intimidation and acts of violence during the campaign period, including threats to his life, but said his supporters remained resilient.

“Despite violence against us, and attempts on my life, you stood firm. Our heads are still up. We have not lost — we won,” he said.

He commended his campaign team and agents who monitored the vote tallying process, praising those who endured what he termed victimisation at the tallying centre.

Panyako also expressed gratitude to DAP-K party leaders, lawyers, and supporters who contributed to his campaign, regardless of the amount.

“Those who supported me financially, including those who contributed even one shilling, I say thank you,” he added.

He maintained that the election outcome does not mark the end of his political journey.

“I have not lost this election and therefore it cannot determine my political future,” he said.
