The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned Kenyans to expect some rain over the next five days, from December 18 to December 25.
David Gikungu, the Director General of Kenya Met, shared the warning on Wednesday, December 18. He said that people living in various regions like the Highlands, parts of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria area, the Coast, and the Southeastern lowlands should prepare for rainfall.
In particular, counties like Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi will experience moderate to heavy rainfall. The rain will likely start in the afternoon, after sunny and cloudy spells in the morning, and may continue until evening.
Other areas such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, and Nakuru are expected to see heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms. People living in these areas are advised to watch out for possible floods.
The forecast also includes similar weather in Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
In addition, moderate rain is expected in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and parts of Tana River.
