Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni has reaffirmed the importance of close collaboration between the national and county governments in accelerating the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The PS spoke after holding a meeting with Kisii County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Health Ronald Nyakweba to discuss key health priorities, including the onboarding of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) onto the Social Health Authority (SHA).
According to Muthoni, the discussions also focused on priority public health programmes and collaborative initiatives aimed at improving healthcare service delivery in Kisii County and across the country.
“Achieving Universal Health Coverage is only possible through strong collaboration between the National Government and County Governments,” the PS said.
She noted that integrating Community Health Promoters into the Social Health Authority is expected to strengthen primary healthcare services and enhance access to affordable healthcare for Kenyans.
Muthoni reiterated the Ministry of Health’s commitment to working closely with county governments to implement health reforms and improve service delivery under the Universal Health Coverage programme.
The meeting comes as the government continues to strengthen partnerships with county administrations to support the rollout of the Social Health Authority and expand access to quality healthcare services.
