President William Ruto has lauded Kenya’s growing technological capabilities, saying the country now possesses the expertise needed to develop advanced digital infrastructure and support a modern, innovation-driven economy.
In a statement shared on social media, President Ruto said the achievement reflects years of deliberate investment in digital infrastructure, skills development and innovation.
“This remarkable success reflects years of deliberate investment in digital infrastructure, skills development and innovation,” the President said.
He noted that Kenya has developed the technical capacity required to build advanced cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence systems, cyber-security capabilities and the digital backbone needed to power economic growth.
“It demonstrates that Kenya possesses the expertise necessary to build advanced cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence systems, cyber-security capabilities and the digital backbone needed for a modern economy,” he added.
The President’s remarks come as Kenya continues to position itself as a regional technology hub, with increased investment in digital connectivity, innovation, artificial intelligence and technology-driven public services.
The government has also prioritised digital skills development and the expansion of digital infrastructure as part of efforts to create employment opportunities, support innovation and accelerate the country’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy.
Ruto said continued investment in technology and local expertise would be critical in strengthening Kenya’s competitiveness and ensuring that the country benefits from emerging opportunities in the global digital economy.
