Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with a delegation from Apollo Hospitals, led by Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, as the government moves to strengthen specialised healthcare services across the country.

The discussions centred on expanding partnerships in key areas such as capacity building, clinical trials, and improving advanced cancer care, including introducing specialised treatments like proton therapy, which is still rare on the continent.

Duale said Kenya intends to tap into Apollo’s expertise to enhance services in neurology, CyberKnife technology, kidney transplant training, cardiac care, and paediatric surgery with most of these programmes expected to strengthen training and service delivery at KUTRRH.

The CS also updated the team on ongoing health reforms, including the government’s push to digitise health services and the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA), which aims to give Kenyans fair access to quality, patient-centred healthcare.

According to the Ministry, the engagement signals Kenya’s commitment to building stronger local medical capacity while deepening international partnerships to improve health outcomes.

CS Duale was accompanied by Director-General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth and Director for Curative and Nursing Services Dr. Andrew Toro.
