JOOTRH Upgrades Surgical and ICU Services with New Equipment

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) has boosted its surgical and critical care services after receiving new modern equipment.

The hospital said the new machines will replace old ones that have been in use for years, helping improve how patients are treated.

New equipment includes advanced operating tables, theatre lighting, anaesthetic machines, and surgical instruments. There have been additional facilities introduced in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with machines for monitoring patients and regulating drugs.

It is easier for the doctors to track the patient’s health condition from the emergency room, through the operation theatre, to the ICU.

According to the management of the hospital, the upgrades will ensure efficiency, minimize the risk of surgeries, and decrease the occurrence of any complications.

The hospital expects that with the improvement, it will be able to manage more patients, especially specialized ones.

The move is part of efforts to raise the hospital’s standards as it works towards becoming a Level 6A facility.

Leaders at the hospital say the new equipment will go a long way in improving services for patients in Kisumu and the wider region.
