The government has announced plans to establish a cash fund program aimed at supporting elderly national heroes across the country.
While speaking at a dinner in Kitui county which was held in honor of the national heroes and presentation of awards, Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services, Hanna Cheptumo, said the idea is a small part of a big plan which is to make sure the heroes of Kenya live dignified lives.
According to Cheptumo, the government will engage the National Heroes Council as the main instrument in the undertaking of the various activities to celebrate and empower the heroes of the country.
“Our heroes especially those in their old age, should not be forgotten. Besides the programs we have been engaging in, we are also working on the cash support initiatives as a way of improving their welfare,” Cheptumo said.
Cheptumo was also exhorting the Kenyans whose magnificient examples in their respective domains of life have been a great blessing to society to continue being a positive influence to the community.
Also, the Cabinet Secretary was equally addressing the heroes and citizens saying planting 15 billion trees by the year 2032 is the government’s environmental agenda to which they should be committed as the initiative is the solution to climate change as well as the preservation of the environment for the coming generations.
