Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has confirmed that preparations for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations are complete, with Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County now fully ready to host the national event.

Omollo announced that the stadium, which has undergone major upgrades ahead of the October 20 celebrations, stands as a symbol of national unity and development.

“Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County now stands fully complete and ready to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on Monday, 20th October,” he said.

The PS lauded the project as a milestone in promoting sports, culture, and youth empowerment in the region, noting that the facility will continue to serve the people of Kitui long after the celebrations.

“Beyond the celebrations, Ithookwe will remain a home for sporting excellence, cultural expression, and youth empowerment,” he added.

Omollo said the stadium will open new avenues for young people to nurture and showcase their talents, particularly in athletics and other sports disciplines.

“It will give young athletes the chance to train, compete, and shine, unlocking doors to professional opportunities both locally and abroad,” he noted.

He further highlighted the economic impact the new stadium is expected to have on Kitui County and its environs, emphasizing that it will boost local enterprises and tourism.

“The stadium will breathe new life into the local economy, energizing small businesses as well as the hospitality and transport sectors, thereby transforming Kitui into a vibrant hub of talent, unity, and progress,” Omollo stated.
