Kenyan singer and former Mathare MP aspirant Bahati has penned an emotional tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, reflecting on their first meeting and expressing disbelief at his passing.
Sharing an old photo of himself with Raila, Bahati captioned the post:
“DEAR BABA 🥺 This is 10 years ago — the first time we met. In music you knew me as Bahati; in politics you referred to me as Mathew from Mathare.”
The heartfelt message quickly moved fans, as Bahati reminisced on Raila’s warmth and charisma, describing the last few days since his death as “unbelievable.”
“The last 72 hours has been like a dream to many. It’s still unbelievable, Baba. We have seen the grave; we cannot believe you are gone,” he wrote.
Bahati went on to celebrate Raila’s enduring influence, calling him a man whose leadership transcended politics and touched generations. “We will miss your political charisma, we will miss Tinga the Enigma, we will miss the People’s President,” he added.
He closed his tribute with a line that struck many as poetic and powerful:
“The King has died but the crown will forever 💔🕊️🌹.”
Fans flooded his comment section with condolences and shared memories of how Raila inspired hope and courage across Kenya.
Raila Odinga, fondly called “Baba” by millions, passed away earlier this week, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, reform, and unwavering commitment to justice.
