Porto have dismissed coach Vitor Bruno, the club confirmed on Monday, following consecutive losses to relegation-threatened Nacional and Gil Vicente.
The two-time Champions League winners currently sit third in the Primeira Liga standings after 18 matches.
Bruno was appointed in June 2024 on a two-year contract to replace Sergio Conceicao, who had departed after a seven-year tenure, during which he secured 11 titles, including three Portuguese league championships.
Porto’s managerial change marks the 12th in the league this season, joining other clubs like Benfica, who sacked German coach Roger Schmidt in August after two seasons, and Sporting, who lost Ruben Amorim to Manchester United in November.
Bruno’s relationship with the players soured after Porto’s League Cup exit following a 1-0 defeat to Sporting in the semi-finals, with midfielder Pepe publicly criticizing the coach on social media.
Porto, who are among the 32 teams qualified for the expanded 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, will face Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday.
