The Kenya Amateur Golf Championship Series continues this weekend with the debut edition of the NCBA Nanyuki Open, scheduled for Friday through Sunday at the Nanyuki Sports Club.
Series leader John Lejirma will headline a strong field that includes in-form players Michael Karanga and Elvis Muigua, both entering the tournament fresh off back-to-back victories at the Diani Beach Masters and Malindi Open earlier this month.
Also in the mix are Ebill Omollo and Isaac Makokha, runners-up at the Malindi Open, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest as players vie for a place in the history books of this inaugural event.
Nanyuki Sports Club Captain Michael Mwirigi expressed his enthusiasm, saying:
“We are proud to welcome golfers, fans, and the wider community to witness this historic event.
The NCBA Nanyuki Open will not only deliver top-tier golf but also showcase the charm and hospitality of Nanyuki.”
A total of 74 players will compete for a KES 500,000 prize purse, with the field limited to golfers with a handicap of 13.5 or lower, ensuring a high level of competition.
Meanwhile, junior golf action returns to the Coast as the Mombasa U.S. Kids Golf Local Tour resumes this Sunday at the Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort. This marks the second leg of the series, following the successful opening round at Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort last month.
