Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has launched a blistering attack on President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of using State security agencies to intimidate political allies of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, an emotional Kihara revealed that her official bodyguard was abruptly withdrawn earlier this week under circumstances she described as politically motivated and deeply unsettling.
“Should anything happen to me, Dr. Ruto, you are to blame,” Kihara declared. “You said you would never use security forces for political reasons. That is exactly what you are doing now.”
According to the MP, her bodyguard was summoned on Wednesday, disarmed, and had his phone confiscated after being questioned in connection with a recent shootout at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters — despite reportedly having no involvement in the incident.

Kihara described the move as not only unfair but also a veiled threat to her safety, saying it left her feeling “vulnerable and naked.”
“I am a very small person to be fought with such a big punch,” she said. “Please, let me live. When you remove my bodyguard, it means you want to harm me.”
She linked the action to a broader pattern of political retaliation against allies of the Deputy President, warning that such tactics undermine democratic principles within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
“Being a friend to Gachagua is not a crime,” she said. “If State security is being used to punish people for their political loyalty, then we are heading in the wrong direction as a country.”
Kihara also referenced the recent fatal shooting of Kasipul MP Charles Were, noting that elected leaders now feel increasingly unsafe amid rising political tension.
“MPs are entitled to security. Are we now supposed to hire goons with pangas and rungus to protect ourselves?” she posed.
