Tanzanian artist Zuchu has raised an outcry over unpaid performance fee for her appearance during the CHAN 2025 Final, played in Nairobi on August 30th.

In an open letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that she shared on her socials, Zuchu was disappointed, claiming that she has yet to be paid in full despite having put up a world-class performance at Kasarani Stadium.

According to Zuchu, her agreement with LEAP Creative Agency, which had the event organized on behalf of CAF, stipulated payment in full at the conclusion of the show. However, despite her management team pursuing the issue aggressively, the payments never came.

She further revealed that purported evidence of payments made by the agency turned out to be “unverifiable, suspicious, and clearly not sent or paid out.”

Zuchu, who headlined the CHAN 2025 closing ceremony together with Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Kenya’s Savara, said that she had to drop other upcoming shows so that the Nairobi show was possible. She noted that it was not fair for such a big continental tournament to do this to musicians.

As an artiste, I would appreciate being treated as reasonably and respectfully as any other working professional. That this is not just unacceptable but also unfair is a travesty,” Zuchu tweeted.

The Sukari singer explained that if the balance is not paid in full, she will have no option but to seek legal or other action in order to recover her money.
