It was also her first track event since August 2023, when she finished sixth in the women’s 10,000m at the World Championships in Budapest with a time of 31:34.83.

At 24 years old, Ngetich is focused on securing a podium finish at this year’s World Championships in Tokyo in September.

American Nikki Hiltz won the race in 1:58.23, followed by Ethiopian Diribe Welteji (1:58.29) and Australian Jessica Hull (1:58.58) in second and third.

Ethiopia’s Ejgayehu Taye won the race.

Kenyan Susan Ejore finished fifth in 1:59.26.

In the men’s 5000m, Olympic silver medalist Ronald Kwemoi placed fifth with a time of 14:40.64.

American Grant Fisher claimed the win in 14:39.14, narrowly edging out teammates Cooper Teare (14:39.31) and Dylan Jacobs (14:39.56), who finished second and third, respectively.

The Grand Slam, created by former American sprinter Michael Johnson, is a premier track event series featuring top athletes from around the world.

The next event is set to take place from May 2-4 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miami.
