Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has suggested a potential joint presidential bid in 2027 with his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro.

Speaking on the Hot 96 Breakfast show, the lawmaker outlined a list of potential allies, including notable leaders such as Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Eugene Wamalwa, Gladys Wanga, Irungu Kang’ata, and George Natembeya.

"It all depends on the decisions we make together with my brother Ndindi, who is also a high performer. If we decide to pursue the presidency today, with Ndindi as my deputy, we could do it without even needing to hire agents—asubuhi mapema!" he remarked. "Ultimately, it's about aligning with capable individuals."

Owino did not shy away from critiquing both President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, expressing disappointment in their leadership styles.

He pointed to alleged instances of rampant corruption in Nairobi, saying that the World Bank previously allocated Ksh.380 million for road construction projects in Embakasi East, Mathare, and Roysambu Constituencies, only for the funds to be mismanaged under the Governor’s oversight.

"The World Bank did release Ksh.380 million to improve our roads, yet contractors have abandoned the sites. Nothing is happening in these constituencies. The funds have been squandered. Who is accountable? The governor of Nairobi," he remarked.

Looking toward the 2027 elections, Owino emphasized he is ‘spoilt for choice’ and ‘overqualified’ to run for either the gubernatorial seat or the presidency.

"There are opportunities everywhere. My supporters are passionately urging me to run for president in 2027. I believe I'm more than qualified for all these roles."
