National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has intensified grassroots mobilisation for President William Ruto’s re-election, citing ongoing and planned development projects in Bungoma County and the wider Western region.

Wetang’ula made the remarks after meeting grassroots leaders from Chwele/Kabuchai Ward, where he said the government’s development agenda was promoting inclusive growth, unity and improved livelihoods.

The Speaker urged residents of the region to continue backing President Ruto, saying engagements with local communities had demonstrated growing appreciation of the government’s development record.

“I expressed my satisfaction that residents of the Western region appreciate the President’s development record, noting that our ongoing grassroots engagements continue to reveal overwhelming support for his re-election in next year’s General Election,”he said in a statement

According to Wetang’ula, several key projects are either underway or planned in Bungoma County, including the Masinde Muliro Stadium, immigration offices, a State Lodge, affordable housing units and the Matulo Airstrip.

He also pointed to the planned revival of Nzoia Sugar Factory, the proposed KSh10 billion Level Six hospital at Sichei and the settlement of KSh239 million in salary arrears owed to Nzoia Sugar employees.

Other projects highlighted include the Chwele Modern Market and major road infrastructure works across the county.

Wetang’ula said the projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to accelerating development in Western Kenya, arguing that the progress made under the Kenya Kwanza administration provides a strong case for President Ruto’s re-election in next year’s General Election.

“The ongoing grassroots engagements continue to reveal overwhelming support for the President’s re-election,” Wetang’ula said.
