Githunguri Constituency Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has called on Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata to write a letter to President William Ruto outlining the various challenges currently facing the nation.

Wamuchomba, known for her outspoken views, stated that Governor Kang’ata, also known as Kang’ata wa Barua, is well-suited to take on this task, given his history of drafting such letters to Heads of State.

Kang’ata gained political prominence during his tenure as Senate Majority Chief Whip after he penned a bold letter to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, detailing the country’s struggles at the time.

In her request, Wamuchomba asked Kang’ata to explain to President Ruto the reasons behind the chilly reception his Kenya Kwanza government has faced in Murang’a and Embu counties.

She urged the governor to inform the president about the rejection of his messages of goodwill during the recent Mashujaa Day celebrations, where locals expressed discontent, even telling the District Commissioner to “leave it.”

Wamuchomba further claimed that clergy in the Mt Kenya region are struggling to publicly acknowledge Ruto’s name, highlighting the political rift in the region.

In December 2020, Kang’ata’s letter to President Kenyatta, which revealed his opposition to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) championed by Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, led to his removal from the Senate Majority Chief Whip position.
