A delegation from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) attending an official visit in China has participated in a lecture on grassroots governance organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Party School in Wenxin.
Professor Tang Jinghua, from the Department of Public Administration at the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, told the delegation that resolving conflicts at the community level before they escalate is crucial. She said leaders should be assessed based on tangible development outcomes rather than popularity or public image.
Professor Tang highlighted the Fengqiao Experience, a governance model that emphasizes local problem-solving and active community participation. She said village assemblies should serve as platforms for residents to express their concerns and contribute to decision-making.
She also recommended establishing one-stop governance centres to streamline services and reduce bureaucratic delays, adding that policies should be developed from the needs of the people, with citizens actively involved in their implementation.
The UDA delegation includes Senator Danson Mungatana (Tana River), Turkana County Woman Representative Cecilia Ngetit, Senior Presidential Advisor Prof. Edward Kisiangani, Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, NEC Member Mark Lumunokol.
Others includes Dr. Adrian Kamotho of ENDRC, County Affairs Director Omulo Junior, Director for Programmes and Partnerships Daniel Kiptoo, and Special Advisor Sabastian Mwangangi.
The visit aims to provide UDA leaders with insights on effective grassroots governance and participatory leadership that can be applied in their home counties.
