Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to learning from global leaders in healthcare and housing to drive local development.

Speaking after accompanying President William Ruto on a tour of Gypto Pharma, one of the Middle East’s top pharmaceutical manufacturers, Mudavadi emphasized the need for Kenya to strengthen its pharmaceutical industry to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

“By investing in local pharmaceutical manufacturing, we can lower healthcare costs and ensure access to quality medicine for all Kenyans,” he noted.

The delegation also visited New Capital Gardens City, where Egypt has successfully constructed over one million housing units in less than four years. Mudavadi described the project as a benchmark for Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme, which seeks to provide decent homes for citizens while creating jobs in the construction sector.

“These engagements reinforce our resolve to push for innovative and transformative solutions back home. Affordable housing and quality healthcare are not just aspirations—they are necessities,” he said.

Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) has placed healthcare and housing among its top priorities, and Mudavadi noted that lessons from Egypt will inform policies to accelerate progress in these sectors.

The tour is part of Kenya’s efforts to forge strategic partnerships and implement policies that will improve the well-being of citizens.
