Renowned Kenyan choreographer and TikTok star Tileh Pacbro has hit back at an upcoming musician who accused local dancers of being selective when supporting music challenges.
The aspiring artist had taken to social media to vent his frustration, claiming dancers refused to promote his song because he couldn’t afford to pay them yet willingly join unpaid challenges for stars like Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.
“Sometimes celebrities aren’t fair,” he wrote. “My song is doing well on Kenyan media, but because I’m upcoming and broke, no one will dance to it.”
The remarks sparked debate online, with many creatives criticizing the artist’s sense of entitlement and dismissing the notion that exposure alone is enough to motivate professional dancers.
Responding to the uproar, Pacbro shared a candid message on his platform:
“Trust me, it’s probably this attitude of entitlement that’s holding you back. People have bills to pay and lives to live. It’s not just about money it’s about time, effort, and respect.”
He emphasized that dance, like music, is a career that deserves recognition and compensation, and that creatives should have the freedom to choose projects that bring value whether financially or artistically.
“Creative work is work. Respect it,” he said, urging upcoming artists to focus on building meaningful relationships rather than demanding unpaid support.
