Kenya’s ruling United Democratic Alliance has conducted phase 3 of the grassroot elections aimed at strengthening the party structures.
The exercise were conducted in 18 Counties an exercise that saw a number of leaders mobilizing their supporters to vote.
The exercise was overseen by the deputy president Kithure Kindiki .
“Voting for the Repeat Phase III Grassroots Elections is officially underway at Kapnyesmisa Polling Center in Chesumei Constituency, Nandi County, as party members turn out to elect twenty (20) new officials. UDA National Treasurer Hon. Japhet Nyakundi is on the ground alongside Chesumei MP, Hon. Paul Biego, and Emgwen MP, Hon. Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen) to observe the process,” UDA party said in a statement.
Leaders like Governor Anne Waiguru and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot voted and urged orderly turnout, with no major disruptions reported and a 24-hour complaint window in place.
Recently speaking, president William Ruto assured Kenyans and UDA supporters that the exercise will be free and fair.
He maintained that in the 2027 election, no candidate will be given a direct ticket noting that they will conduct free and fair election.
