Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has claimed that a senior doctor working at The Nairobi Hospital was allegedly abducted by police officers on Saturday morning.
According to Havi, the medic, identified as obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Job Obwaka, was reportedly taken by police at around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Havi alleged that since the incident, the doctor’s phone has been switched off, raising concerns among colleagues, family members and human rights advocates about his whereabouts.
The lawyer shared the claims publicly, saying the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s disappearance remain unclear and urging authorities to explain the situation.
Dr Obwaka is described as a decorated obstetrician attached to Nairobi Hospital, one of Kenya’s leading private referral hospitals, where he has been involved in maternal health services and specialised obstetric care.
The alleged incident has sparked concern online, particularly amid growing debate in Kenya about alleged abductions and enforced disappearances linked to law-enforcement operations.
Human rights groups in the country have previously raised alarm over cases where individuals are reportedly picked up by unknown officers and held without clear legal process, prompting calls for accountability and transparency.
As of Saturday afternoon, police had not issued an official statement confirming the alleged arrest or abduction.
The situation continues to draw attention as legal and medical circles await clarification on Dr Obwaka’s whereabouts.
