Just days after landslides in Chesongoch that resulted in the death of more than 20 people, another landslide has hit the county killing two people in Kibendo area of Keiyo South and injuring several others.
Authorities say the incident that caused the tragedy is the most recent event that happened early Monday after the rain continues to pour the region.
National Security Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, has advised residents to always be on the lookout and to notify the authorities of any ground movements or other signs that may indicate danger.
Murkomen commended the Elgeyo-Marakwet County government, Kenya Red Cross, and other rescue teams for their rapid response to the disasters that have lately the region.
He said that the national government is cooperating closely with the local authorities to put in place the necessary measures and quick response in the areas that are most vulnerable to landslides and floods.
