Tusker FC has parted ways with forward Shaphan Siwa, who has joined Tanzanian side Kagera Sugar following the expiration of his contract.
Siwa makes the move as a free agent, returning to Tanzania after previously playing for Biashara United in the 2020/21 season.
Reports indicate that Siwa was offered a substantial sign-on fee by Kagera Sugar, along with a significant salary increase compared to his earnings at Tusker FC.
Despite efforts by Tusker to present him with an improved contract and sign-on package, they were unable to match the terms offered by the Tanzanian club.
In an interview Siwa acknowledged that leaving Tusker was a difficult decision but expressed his desire for a new challenge.
“Tusker has been like family to me, and it was not easy to leave. But I believe it’s time to push myself further and embrace a new challenge. I’ve had tremendous success there, and now I’m excited to test myself at a new club, aiming to replicate that success and go even further.”
Siwa has been in excellent form this season, directly contributing to 10 goals in just 14 matches for Tusker FC, with one goal and a league-leading nine assists.
His performances were key to the team’s success and earned him a call-up to the national team for the Mapinduzi Cup, although he did not make the final traveling squad.
