On the night of June 26, a fun night of enjoyment turned into tragedy when a police officer opened fire, shooting his lover and another man dead in Uasin Gishu County.
It is said that the officer discovered that his lover was in another relationship with another man.
The officer, who was drunk, was armed with an AK-47 rifle that had been assigned for night duties, but later used a motorbike to head to the pub where the incident occurred.
The action prompted other people who were in the club to raise an alarm by calling police officers.
After realizing what he had done, the officer attempted to flee but the police and DCI officers from Turbo Sub County arrived on time and proceeded to arrest him and disarmed the riffle which had twenty rounds of ammunition.
According to a police report, the pub was reportedly owned by the officer’s lover, who was seeing another man.
In the act of confusion and shooting, a stray bullet struck another man, wounding him and leading to hospital treatment.
The police disclosed that the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.
The arrested police officer is currently in police custody as investigations into the circumstances that led to the shooting at the entertainment joint continue.
