Both the men’s and women’s teams of Titans Deaf Football Club emerged champions at the Global Disability Summit (GDS) Inclusion Cup, held on Saturday at Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi.
The tournament brought together ten football clubs in a celebration of Disability Inclusion Day.
Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, GDS head Allan Herbert said the tournament aimed to unite persons with different disabilities from across Kenya and promote their inclusion in society.
In the women’s final, Titans Deaf Women FC edged Black Albinism 3–2, while in the men’s category, Titans Deaf FC claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over Lion Stars, coached by Ruth Mueni.
Mueni, who is also the vice president of the Short Stature Society of Kenya (SSSK), said the tournament provided a valuable opportunity for engagement and preparation ahead of a busy 2026 calendar.
“We haven’t gathered much this year, and this tournament has served as an important get-together for persons of short stature. It has also been a good warm-up as we prepare for 2026. We thank God we managed to reach the finals,” Mueni said.
The Global Disability Summit Inclusion Cup continues to play a key role in mobilising commitment and action towards disability inclusion and the advancement of disability rights both locally and globally.
