Moi Air Base (MAB) Headquarters Wing marked Mental Health Awareness Month with a community outreach visit to the Mother Teresa Children’s Home in Huruma, Nairobi.

The visit aimed at promoting psychosocial support and emotional well-being, particularly for vulnerable children, most of whom are differently abled.

Led by Major Kefa Plimo from the Moi Air Base Aviation Hospital, the team was received by Sister Mariana, who conducted a tour of the facility and introduced the personnel to the children under their care.

The visit was conducted under the theme “Turn Awareness into Action,” reinforcing the Kenya Air Force’s commitment to mental health advocacy and community engagement.

As part of the outreach, the MAB team donated various essential items including diapers, soap, foodstuffs, cooking oil, tissue paper, and other household necessities.

Speaking on behalf of the Commanding Officer, Major Plimo noted the importance of giving back to the community.
“We are here to share and stand with the members of this society. This visit is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back and expressing gratitude,” he said.

Sister Mariana, representing the home, expressed deep appreciation for the continued support from the Kenya Air Force.
“We are truly thankful for your kindness and presence. Though we may not offer material gifts in return, we offer you our prayers and blessings. Together, we can do something beautiful for God,” she said.

The outreach highlighted the Kenya Air Force’s broader mission of service to the nation, not only in defense but also through impactful social responsibility initiatives that prioritize compassion, care, and community.
