As the City Marathon nears, over 1,700 elite athletes have confirmed their participation in the 42km race for the 5th edition of the Nairobi City Marathon on Sunday, June7, 2026. The event has grown into one of the East Africa’ s premier races, featuring 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km runs.

The race, scheduled to start outside City Hall and end at Uhuru Park, will affect several road closures within the Central Business District, highways and the expressway will be closed between 12 am and 2 pm to ensure a smooth progress of the day’s event.

The marathon has attracted champions and rising stars, from Kenyan long- distance runners to 100m sprinters. The event is expected to host thousands of runners and fans, as it will highlight the Kenya’s unmatched legacy in athletics.

Winners will bag Ksh 3.5 million, while the second Ksh 2.25 million and the third Ksh 1.5 million respectively.
