American singer Taylor Swift has announced she is releasing a new single later this week, “Patient Zero,” scheduled to be released on September 25.
Swift shared the news on her Instagram about the new release.
“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours,” Swift wrote.
Swift also said she has three collector’s edition CDs with double-sided covers available to buy for 24 hours on her website or while supplies last. Each CD includes a standard, acoustic and piano version of the track.
The news of her latest song comes as she is set to receive the first-ever Artist Director Honors at the 2026 Video Music Awards this coming Sunday.
Her single directorial debut video, produced in 2020, “The Man” won Best Direction at the VMAs that same year and since then, she has directed a list of other visuals for her music.
Within hours of the announcement, hashtags related to “Patient Zero” began trending globally, while industry insiders praised Swift’s ability to dominate the cultural conversation.
This will mark the first new music that Swift has released after tying the knot with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in July.
