Detectives from the Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) have arraigned Jean Emmanuel Morlon, also known as Lamarca J. Benjamin, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Law Court on multiple charges related to a gold scam involving $120,000.
Morlon, who had been in custody under a 12-day order obtained on February 4, 2025, is accused of defrauding two businessmen a Romanian and a Swiss national of the hefty sum.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) team charged Morlon with Obtaining Money by False Pretenses, Possession of a Firearm Without a Firearm Certificate, Possession of Ammunition Without a Firearm Certificate, Creating a False Document, and Forgery of an Official Document.
Appearing before the Senior Principal Magistrate’s Court No. 1 at JKS Morlon pleaded not guilty to all charges.
However, detectives objected to his release on bail, citing concerns he poses a flight risk. The court ordered Morlon’s remand at Industrial Area Remand Prison.
The case will be mentioned on March 3, 2025.
