Veteran rally journalist Anwar Sidi has made an urgent public appeal after burglars broke into his South C Estate home in Nairobi and stole electronic equipment containing decades of irreplaceable work.
According to Sidi, the burglary occurred last night, with thieves making away with a MacBook Pro laptop and several external hard drives that hold a lifetime of professional material. Among the stolen items is a MacBook Pro, Model A2338 EMC 3578, with serial number FVFF32N7Q05H, which he says contained all his current projects.
More devastating, however, is the loss of five external hard drives carrying what Sidi described as a priceless archive of photographs and data spanning over four decades. The collection reportedly includes material dating from 1983 to 2025, featuring rare images from major motorsport events such as the 2025 Classic Safari and content linked to the WRC Safari Rally project.
Taking to social media, Sidi emphasised that the loss goes far beyond the monetary value of the stolen equipment. He noted that much of the content is professionally and historically significant, with some of it impossible to recreate or replace.
“This is a lifetime of work,” Sidi shared, appealing to anyone who may come across the laptop or external drives to reach out immediately. He also urged members of the public to share the information widely across social media platforms to increase the chances of recovery.
Anyone with information regarding the stolen items is asked to contact Anwar Sidi on 0722 786 714 or 0735 786 714.
