DCI detectives have arrested Amos Barasa Kasili in the Kibera Darajani area as part of ongoing investigations into the killing of Kasipul MP, Charles Ong’ondo Were, who was fatally shot on April 30.
According to investigators, forensic evidence links Barasa to the main suspects and places him at the scene of the crime.
He is alleged to have ridden the motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number KMFZ 413W, which was used by the assailants to follow the MP’s vehicle and later as a getaway vehicle after the shooting. Barasa was found in possession of this motorcycle at the time of his arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Barasa is a repeat offender who frequently poses as a boda boda operator while collaborating with armed criminal gangs.
During questioning, he reportedly admitted his involvement in the crime, stating that he was hired by the primary suspects and received KSh 50,000 for his role.
The recovered motorcycle matches the one seen in CCTV footage trailing the MP’s car near Parliament on the day of the incident.
