The Transport Licensing Appeals Board has granted Super Metro Sacco a reprieve, temporarily lifting the suspension imposed by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
The board’s order, issued on Monday, March 24, 2025, allows the popular public transport company to resume operations immediately, provided it complies with all legal requirements.
In the ruling, board chairman Dr. Adrian Kamotho stated: “An interim order is hereby issued staying the execution/enforcement/operation of the decision of the respondents dated March 18, 2025, suspending the operation of the appellant herein Super Metro Sacco Limited as a PSV operator.” The directive also instructed that the order be served upon the Inspector General of Police without delay.
Super Metro’s operations were suspended by NTSA on Thursday, March 20, citing non-compliance with Public Service Vehicles (PSV) regulations and safety measures.

NTSA alleged violations including expired inspection certificates, road service licenses, and speed limiter certificates. It also flagged issues such as unqualified driver credentials and vehicles exceeding speed limits.
To regain its operating license, NTSA required Super Metro to present 294 vehicles for compliance checks at Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and retest 42 drivers with speed violations.
On Saturday, Super Metro complied by presenting its fleet for inspection at Likoni Road in Nairobi’s industrial area.
Super Metro challenged NTSA’s decision in court, arguing that it was not given a fair hearing or notice of alleged violations prior to the suspension.
The company claimed that the suspension was unreasonable and unfair, causing irreparable harm to its business operations.
