Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Kithure Kindiki has defended the decision to deploy the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) during the recent gen z demonstrations.
Kindiki cited significant security threats that justified the precautionary measure.
Kindiki’s comments came during his vetting process, where he elaborated on the circumstances that led to the readiness alert.
State House Threats and Parliament Burning Prompted KDF Deployment, Says Kindiki

State House Threats and Parliament Burning Prompted KDF Deployment
According to Kindiki, the decision to mobilize KDF was driven by escalating threats from criminal elements who had already targeted and burnt Parliament.
He revealed that these same criminals were making explicit threats to attack State House, prompting the need for heightened security measures.
He also addressed the legal aspects of the decision, asserting that the precautionary measure was well within the bounds of the law, given the severe nature of the threats.
He at the same time revealed that his wealth increased from Sh. 544 to Sh. 694M.
