Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has won a defamation case against media company Standard Group.

Kaluma sued the media house over a salacious publication made by the firm’s subsidiary, The Nairobian, a piece the MP said was false and defamatory.

Taking to social media, the ODM lawmaker shared court documents announcing the ruling on the case and the KSh 11 million in damages he had been awarded.

Kaluma, however, said he will appeal the decision to have the amount increased “to a level commensurate with the damage done to my reputation and my family by the publication.”

Once paid the KSh 11 million, the MP said he will donate the money to the charity of his choice.

He also announced plans to file a new suit for the continued publication of the defamatory article by the media house.
