National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced the death of nominated MP Denar Joseph Hamisi, describing it as a profound loss to Parliament and the country.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, Wetang’ula said Hamisi passed away earlier in the day, leaving behind a legacy of humility, dedication, and service.
“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of our colleague, Nominated Member the late Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who left us this morning,” Wetang’ula said.
He praised Hamisi for his unwavering commitment to parliamentary duties, noting his contributions as a member of the Departmental Committee on Sports & Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities.
Wetang’ula noted that Hamisi brought to Parliament a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, describing his career as a testament to his lifelong devotion to Kenya.
“Hon. Denar served this House and the nation with unwavering dedication, humility, and commitment,” he said.
The Speaker extended heartfelt condolences to Hamisi’s family, friends, constituents, and all who were touched by his leadership and service.
Wetang’ula also announced that a team led by Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya has been appointed to liaise with the family and support preparations for a befitting farewell.
“May the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and grant his loved ones strength and comfort during this difficult time,” he added.
