Police have arrested six men believed to have planned the cold-blooded killing of a police officer at Thika-Garissa Road junction last month.
The officer was gunned down on June 18, sending the fraternity of police into shock and sparking a manhunt with high stakes.
Detectives trailed the five suspects following weeks of monitoring and forensic examination to a den in Kahawa West.
Those arrested include Joseph Ngotho Karanja, Benjamin Kambo Mwangi, Athanase Ndacaisaba, Kelvin Mbilika Ollingo, and Samuel Omurambi.
During the raid, officers also recovered a vehicle registration number KDQ 529W which they say was used during the deadly attack.
The sixth suspect, Philip Muiruri Muchiri, was arrested separately in the Kiamumbi area, rounding out what police say was a coordinated effort by a well-organized gang.
The suspects were arraigned at the Thika Law Courts, where detectives successfully requested to detain them for 21 days to allow for further investigations.
The case will be mentioned again in court on August 11.
