Drivers along the Thika-Garissa Highway will be braced for a wait next Saturday as reconstruction work begins on the Kavenge Bridge within Mbakini Centre.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) revealed the July 26 to November 8 maintenance, which will impede traffic on the busy A3 road.
The repairs will focus on fixing the bridge’s deck and support beams, KeNHA says those are essential for keeping the road safe.
Motorists are requested to follow on-site signs and rules, cooperate with traffic marshals and police, and prepare for possible diversion or longer travel times.
“We’re urging road users to be patient during this period. These works are necessary and being done to improve safety for everyone,” said a KeNHA official familiar with the project.
Alternative routes and a detailed traffic management plan are expected to be announced ahead of the closure.
