South African star Sho Madjozi expressed deep concern after reportedly losing contact with her friends in Tanzania, following recent unrest in the country.
Taking to social media, the John Cena hitmaker shared that she has been unable to reach her Tanzanian friends since yesterday, saying, “Tangu jana siwezi kupata marafiki zangu Tanzania kwenye simu. Niko worried sana.”
In a heartfelt message, Sho Madjozi reassured her love for Tanzania and its people by writing, “Ninachokijua ni kwamba naipenda sana Tanzania. Ninaamini kuwa Watanzania, kama watu wote, wana haki ya kuchagua viongozi wao, na haki pia ya kuandamana kwa amani bila hofu au vurugu.”
The award-winning rapper went on to praise Tanzanians for their peaceful nature, saying it takes a lot for calm people like them to take to the streets — a sign that something serious must be happening.
She also had a strong message for those in power, reminding them that “Dunia inatazama. Mnaweza kuzima mtandao, lakini hamwezi kuzima tamaa ya kuona mabadiliko.”
In a moving close, Sho Madjozi called on both authorities and demonstrators to avoid violence and uphold peace:
“Kwa wale wanaoandamana, tusiruhusu hasira zetu zitufanye tuwe na vurugu; vurugu si suluhisho, ni silaha, si yetu. Tafadhali muwe salama.”
