Erick Shikuku secured his second gold medal at the ongoing World Masters Indoor Championships in Gainesville, United States, after winning the men’s 10km race walk on Sunday.

Shikuku crossed the finish line in 45:26, clinching the top spot ahead of Spain’s Juan Manuel Morales del Castillo, who finished second with a time of 46:03.

Michael Mannozzi from the United States took bronze, clocking 47:58 for third place.

This victory marked Shikuku’s second triumph at the championships—an event for retired athletes—following his world record-breaking performance in the men’s 3000m race walk on Friday.

The Mombasa-based racewalker completed the 3000m in 12:34.20, securing his first gold medal of the week.

Canada’s Dmitry Babenko (13:25.39) and Mexico’s Etiel Soto Maldonado (13:35.25) claimed the silver and bronze, respectively.

Kenya has now won a total of five medals, including four golds and one silver. Other Kenyan medalists include Francis Kipkoech Bowen, who won gold in the men’s 3000m; Peter Mwangi, who earned gold in the men’s shot put; Ibrahim Muya, who claimed silver in the men’s 60m; and Milicent Ndoro, who took gold in the women’s 200m.

Bowen also set a new world record in his event, clocking 8:36.23 for the men’s 3000m.
