Senator Samson Cherargai has come under criticism following his remarks in the Senate suggesting that cooking is strictly for women.
“Cooking is women’s business. It’s an abomination and a curse for a dry Kalenjin man to appear even near the door of a kitchen,” Cherargai said.
His statement was captured during a parliamentary session and has ignited a heated debate on gender roles, cultural traditions and the place of women in modern Kenyan society.
Cherargai’s statement has been condemned by many, stating its outdated and harmful, especially in a society where gender equality is embodied in the Constitution. The public has reacted to his statement criticizing him.
