Kenyan businessman and public figure Kennedy Rapudo has at last spoken out. After some period of social media silence, Rapudo returned.

He returned with a firm statement addressing new gossip about him, including one that he took a lady out to dinner after a one-time fling at the parking lot.

In a detailed Instagram post, Rapudo explained that the viral allegations arose from an act of courtesy. In the post, he claimed to have been approached by people who needed his help in parking. Out of common courtesy, he helped park for them. However, things took a wrong turn when one of them asked him to take a selfie, which he declined politely.

No flirting, no exchange, nothing beyond helping,” Rapudo wrote. “Now I’m seeing rumors I took someone out to dinner? This is why folks distance themselves.”.

Rapudo grumbled that his gesture was twisted into something else, citing the culture of misinformation and pettiness. “Sometimes silence gives liars room to get cozy,” he said, further noting that his silence in the past wasn’t ignorance but an attempt at keeping his peace.

He proceeded to clarify that he had no romantic interactions with anyone in the area, dispatching speculation with sharp accuracy:

“I tried being respectful, kind, and serene, but if kindness gets twisted in a tale I never created—I slam the door.”

The entrepreneur concluded his post saying, “If kindness to people is now an open door for trickery, I’ll keep my energy for myself. From today, I walk different.”
