President Ruto

President William Ruto has unveiled a major education infrastructure project in Kwale County, officially laying the foundation stone for the construction of 3,600 hostel units across universities, TVET institutions and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) colleges.

The initiative is expected to improve students’ accommodation and enhancing access to higher education and support the growing demand for learning facilities.

It will cost Ksh 260 million for Lungalunga Technical and Vocational College alone, with the aim of providing students with a dignified and conducive learning environment.

During the launch, Ruto emphasized that the project is part of his administration’s broader commitment to empower youth. He also announced sponsorship for 250 students from the area to undertake short courses at the college, at a cost of Ksh 5 million.

His administration has consistently highlighted TVETs as a critical to bridging the gap between education and employment, as the government makes efforts to improve Kenya’s development projects.
