The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has appointed Sharon Kisire as its new Vice Chairperson, effective May 21,2026.Her appointment marks a significant moment for Kenya’s education sector as the commission continues to oversee key reforms, improve teachers’ welfare and address the demands of modern classrooms across the country.
Kisire takes over from Leila Ali Abdi whose contract officially ended at the beginning of this month, after her non- renewable six year term expired.
Kisire is known for her strong background of twenty years of experience in human resource management, where she earned a reputation for fairness, decisiveness and a deep understanding of workforce dynamics in both public and private sectors.
Acting TSC Chief Executive Officer Eveleen Mitei welcomed Kisire, wishing her success in her new role at the commission.
“The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the appointment of CS Sharon J. Kisire, MBS as the new TSC Vice Chairperson, effective from May 21, 2026. She takes over following the completion of the tenure of Leila Ali Abdi, MBS,” TSC stated.
She also worked in several institutions including telecommunication companies, Kenya Pipeline Company, Kenya Wildlife Service, National Oil Corporation and The Mater Hospital.
Kisire serves as Kenya Accountant and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) Certified Secretary and a Certified Governance Auditor under the Institute of Certified Secretaries.
In her role, she will be expected to monitor the conduct and performance of teachers by ensuring professional standards and ethics are adhered to.
