President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering women as key drivers of Kenya’s economic growth and social transformation.
In a statement, the President underscored the critical role women play in national development, noting that deliberate interventions are necessary to unlock their full potential across all sectors of the economy.
To support women entrepreneurs, Ruto announced that the government has set aside KSh250 million for the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco.
The funds are aimed at expanding access to affordable credit, particularly for women running small and medium-sized enterprises.
“We are also working with Parliament to achieve the two-thirds gender rule and ensure fair representation of women in elective positions.,” said the President.
The initiative is expected to ease financial constraints faced by many women entrepreneurs, enabling them to grow their businesses and strengthen their participation in the economy.
At the same time, the Head of State revealed that the government is working closely with Parliament of Kenya to implement the two-thirds gender rule. The move seeks to ensure fair representation of women in elective positions and promote inclusivity in leadership.
Ruto emphasized that achieving gender balance in governance is a key pillar in fostering equitable development and enhancing democratic representation.
